Khorshid Akhavan

Khorshid Akhavan is an accomplished artist born in Tehran, Iran, who moved to Canada at a young age. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, specializing in Textile, from Concordia University in Montreal, where she graduated as an honored student. During her time in Canada, Khorshid worked as a head designer in well-known design companies, further refining her creative expertise.

Now based in Dubai, Khorshid has exhibited her work in several prominent venues, including a solo art exhibition at World Art Dubai and a showcase at Gallery Vibes in Mall of the Emirates. Her work was also selected from over 3,000 entries for a juried women empowerment exhibition at DIFC, highlighting her unique artistic voice.

Khorshid’s art, often infused with Islamic and Iranian patterns and textiles, delves into themes of womanhood, identity, migration, and hidden emotions—all expressed through a deeply expressionist style using acrylics, oils, and mixed media.

Her artistic journey has been featured in Arab News (interviewed by Jumana Al Tamami, November 17, 2020) and in Textile Today Magazine, a New York–based publication that has interviewed her multiple times.

Khorshid continues to create and teach art, guiding both children and adults to reconnect with their creative essence. She looks forward to sharing more of her work through upcoming exhibitions in the near future.
